After his under-graduation at the Madras Medical College and a post graduation in Internal Medicine from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh he trained in UK and the USA in infectious diseases.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow and also holds Diplomas in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and in Genito-Urinary Medicine from London. He specializes in Infection Control, HIV medicine, Tropical Infections and Travel Health.
